As you will all be aware, today marks the 8th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks in New York City and the Pentagon. When I think of those attacks I think about New York City. My favorite city in the world, and how despite the lack of the World Trade Center it is still one of the most awe-inspiring places I have ever been to. For me, New York is the eternal symbol of hope, the embodiment of the United States of America, and it is truly a testament to the city and to the will of the American people that it can still produce those feelings. In that regard, the terrorists failed. Even though that terrible day will never be forgotten, New York (and the United States) is a beacon which can not be tarnished. That is why I love it so.
