It has been a while since I have posted anything here, and this one will be relatively short, but I felt the need to say that while there are people making the news every day that make human beings seem like violent, sadistic idiots there are people who do not make the news that indicate otherwise.
I volunteer at a local RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) shop, and this week we set up a table outside of a supermarket to collect donations and to sell animal-related items (with the proceeds going to the RSPCA obviously). The whole morning I was there we sold three items, and they were small. What was encouraging was that we got a steady flow of donations the entire time. Some people donating loose change, others putting in banknotes. They didn't take anything from it but still parted with a little money.
I thought that even in the midst of a financial crisis with wages stagnating while prices skyrocket and unemployment at a sixty year high it was uplifting to see people not part with their sense of generosity.
